The latest global air freight data from IATA shows that demand measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs) slowed in May 2016 with growth falling to 0.9% year-on-year. Vietjet has finalised an order with Airbus for 20 more A321s. The agreement is valued at US$2.39 billion and deliveries are expected to begin from 2017 until 2020. The airline currently has a fleet of 40 aircraft, including Airbus A320 (see video below) and A321s.

255. Singapore Airlines Unveils Adelaide as Launch Destination for New A350-900
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has confirmed Adelaide as the launch destination for its new Airbus A350-900 medium haul aircraft. Slated to commence daily operations on 17 December 2018, the new A350-900 will operate as SQ279 from Singapore to Adelaide, and return as SQ278, from Adelaide to Singapore, subject to regulatory approval.
256. Adria Airways Leaves Star Alliance
The Slovenian airline Adria Airways, headquartered in Ljubljana, is no longer a member of Star Alliance. The departure of Adria Airways from Star Alliance follows the company’s recent bankruptcy developments and cessation of all flight operations on 30 September.
