201. Rolls-Royce Receives New Approval for Trent 1000
Rolls-Royce has received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for an enhanced Package B version of the Trent 1000 engine which powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Package B version of the Trent 1000, which is certified to 70,000lb take-off thrust, will soon enter service with All Nippon Airways (ANA).

Etihad Airways has reported a full year EBIT of US$137 million, on revenues up 36% to US$4.1 billion (2010: US$2.98 billion). The results included earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and rentals (EBITDAR) of US$648 million, with a net profit of US$ 14 million. The record result exceeded the airline’s 2011 target, which was to break even.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has reached an agreement with L-3 Space and Propulsion Systems, to develop and market the GreenTaxi Electric Taxi System. The GreenTaxi system moves a commercial aircraft on the ground without using the aircraft’s main engines or ground service equipment, including tugs.
