Novotel Vines Resort rated 'Australia's Finest Resort Golf Course'

Travel News Asia 5 September 2002

The Novotel Vines Golf Resort in W.A. (Australia) has been rated eighth best golf resort in the world and Australia's leading golf resort in American Airline's prestigious "Celebrated Living" Platinum Edition, 2002.

The Novotel Vines Resort was the only Australian golf resort to make American Airline's Top 10 and joined the world's most most-desired resort courses including Old Course Hotel (Scotland) No. 1, Turnberry (Scotland) No. 2, and Casa de Campo (Dominican Republic) No.3.

The Novotel Vines Resort was home of the Heineken Classic - Australia's richest tournament - for eight years. This world-class tournament was televised throughout the world and was part of the WATC's "Best on Earth in Perth" strategic campaign.

The sweeping Resort is situated in the heart of the wine growing and tourist region of the Swan Valley, 20 minutes drive from Perth airport and 45 minutes drive from the CBD.

Designed by world famous golfer Graham Marsh, the two eighteen hole courses are challenging for those willing to aggressively tackle the undulating greens and heavily wooded rough.

Ernie Els, runner up of the Heineken Classic, says that "The Vines greens are the best he has putted for a very long time," and top European Professional Bernhard Langer had this to say about the course during the tournament in 1999. "I've hardly ever seen a better course in all the years I've been playing anywhere in the world".

Criterion include (aside from a great golf course) -"top notch dining, attentive service, and accommodation second to none" - all of which the Novotel Vines Resort excelled.

You can relax, forget about city stress and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature, as you sit around the pool and spa, play on one of the 3 championship golf courses, play tennis or squash, visit the gym or wander around the grounds watching the friendly local kangaroos.

The hotel accommodation is built around the ancient vines planted in a central courtyard, with water features, peaceful nooks and surrounded by green rolling hills. It is low level, and each room has French doors opening onto a roomy balcony or terrace, with individual control air-conditioners to allow fresh air, or an icy blast.

The deluxe king suites have spa baths, work desks and lounge areas, and all rooms have that essential commodity for relaxation, up-to-date glossy magazines, in house movies, all modern amenities and staff who will bend over backwards, ensure an enjoyable stay.

Muscat's Bistro offers casual meals, fresh local produce from the local cheese and chocolate factories, wines from "just down the road", and buffets to tempt the fussiest eaters. The Vigneron Room, is more formal, and features regular and well attended "Wine nights", highlighting local wines, and featuring winemakers' sharing their knowledge, their products and a sumptuous menu.

With large, well equipped, conference facilities, and a feeling of being "so far away, and yet only 40 minutes from town", means the resort is always bustling with corporate retreat guests, who can also choose to stay at the large 3 bedroom (2 bathroom) self contained apartments on the edge of the golfing greens. These one and two story apartments have private laundries, dining areas, full sized kitchens and large balconies overlooking a pool and the water hazards and surrounding native bush land.
