Travel News Asia 2 October 2002

Six Continents Hotels has appointed Peter Savoff as Area Director of Marketing for Queensland, Northern Territory and Papua New Guinea.

Peter will oversee the development and implementation of strategic marketing activities to enhance the performance of those hotels and continue to raise awareness of Six Continents Hotels' global brands.

"We are excited about the valuable experience Peter will bring to this position and are confident his skills and knowledge will strengthen our position in the region," said Six Continents Hotels Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee.

With more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Peter has an exceptionally strong hotel management background and is recognised as a proficient change agent following his achievements at opening and converting a number of hotels throughout Australia.

As former General Manager at Holiday Inn Brisbane for four and a half years and the previously Parkroyal Plaza Potts Point for four years, Peter had successfully led the transition of both hotel brands from Centra and Radisson brands respectively.

In 1988, Peter was Director of Food and Beverage at the Cairns International hotel and was responsible for development of the five-star international hotel's fit-out, recruitment and marketing plans. Peter also gained resort-style management experience as Executive Assistant Manager at the then Parkroyal Surfers Paradise.

Peter has completed a Bachelor of Business at Victoria University majoring in Hotel Management and a Master of Business Administration at the University of South Adelaide, for which he received the Alex Ramsey Award as Dux of the International Graduate School of Management.
