Virgin Atlantic Airways today announced the appointment of Caroline Timmins as Head of Procurement. Caroline will be reporting to Julie Southern, Chief Financial Officer and will oversee Virgin Atlantic's procurement of a wide range of products and services to the value of over £500m annually. Caroline joins Virgin Atlantic on 29 October 2002.
On her new position Caroline Timmins commented;
"I am delighted to be joining Virgin Atlantic. Like all airlines, Virgin Atlantic purchases a large and diverse range of products and services and I look forward to the challenge of continuing to improve the value for money of the airline's purchasing."
Julie Southern, Chief Financial Officer, commented on Caroline's appointment;
"This is a new position and will spearhead the development of our coordinated approach to procurement, which will over time benefit the entire business. Caroline's role will include the selection and delivery of new procurement systems.
"This is an exciting development for the business at a time when we remain focused on getting value for money across a large cost base. We are very pleased to welcome Caroline to Virgin Atlantic."
Caroline received a BA Hons European Business Management and German Diplom Betirebswirt from Middlesex University. Since then she has undertaken the roles of Global Procurement Executive at Reuters and Procurement Manager Asia for Morgan Stanley, and most recently held the position of Senior Executive for Global Procurement at ABN Amro Bank. Caroline is also a CIMA qualified accountant. |
