Galileo International Enriches Content with Cambodia's President Airlines

Travel News Asia 24 October 2002

Galileo International, a leading provider of electronic global distribution services for the travel industry, has announced the addition of Cambodia's President Airlines to its computer reservation system. Travel agency and corporate customers of Galileo are now able to access this Asia Pacific carrier's full itinerary and pricing schedule.

"We are delighted to welcome this growing Asia Pacific carrier to Galileo," said Janie Kaung, executive vice president and managing director of Galileo's Asia Pacific region. "Galileo is now able to offer even richer content to its 47,000 plus travel agency customers and we look forward to assisting President Airlines as it expands its international service."

President Airlines was incorporated in December 1997 when the Kingdom of Cambodia Government announced its "open sky" policy to attract foreign investors and to improve its air transportation. The company initially provided scheduled charters to Siem Reap and Battambang, both domestic routes. It set up a cargo division in 1999 and in the same year was awarded all of Cambodia's domestic and international routes by the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation. The company currently flies four domestic routes out of Phnom Penh, and has an international flight to Taipei. It commenced flights to Bangkok October 1st.

President Airlines joins more than 500 airlines already participating in Galileo's global distribution system. Galileo also provides its agency customers with inventory and information on 34 car rental suppliers, 51,000 hotel properties, 431 tour operators and all major cruise lines.

Galileo distributes the inventory of three Cambodian airlines. Other than President Airlines, Galileo is servicing Mekong Airlines and Siem Reap Airways International.
