Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau Makes its Move

Travel News Asia 23 September 2002

Long known for moving heaven and earth to win convention business for Melbourne, Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB) recently got involved in a different type of move.

On the weekend of the 21 + 22 September, MCVB left its home of 12 years in Flinders Street, Melbourne to relocate to offices at Level 12, IBM Centre, 60 City Road, Southbank, 3006.

“With long-term tenure at Flinders Street uncertain, a pending sale of the building and our lease renewal imminent, an intensive three-month search was launched to find a new home,” said Gary Grimmer, MCVB Chief Executive Officer.

The IBM Centre was chosen for its competitive lease and slightly smaller but more efficient space.

“After a search and review of available office space within the CBD we found the IBM Centre met all our criteria and was within our budgetary requirements,” Mr Grimmer said.

“For the first time in 12 years our 27 staff will all be on one level instead of spread across three floors. This will improve productivity as well as communications.”

MCVB’s new main telephone number is +61 3 9693 3333, main fax +61 3 9693 3344.
