Alliance Airlines Australia launches super deals on Business Class

Travel News Asia 23 October 2002

Alliance Airlines has again sharpened competition on the Brisbane - Rockhampton (Australia) air route, announcing a special Business Class fare of just $298 one way until the end of November.

The fare, which includes Government taxes, represents a discount of approximately 40% off the Business Class level previously offered by Qantas between the two cities.

It also compliments the airline's very competitive Economy Class fare of just $125 one way.

Alliance Business Class features 16 all-leather seats on its 91-seat Fokker 100 twinjets, plus a generous 42 inch seat pitch, hot meals, complimentary drinks and daily newspapers.

The airline launched Brisbane - Rockhampton services in August with a ceremony which included naming its first jet "City of Rockhampton", and a commitment to provide quality service and competitive fares.

The carrier now flies 12 return services each week using Fokker 100s, whose spacious, quiet cabins have made them a passenger favourite.

"When we launched our flights on this route we promised innovation and we promised value for money," said Alliance Managing Director Mr Scott McMillan.

"We are delivering on that promise, and I am pleased to say that our passenger numbers have been increasing steadily, week by week."

Mr McMillan said the Business Class discounts were designed to increase awareness of the premium class service available on Alliance flights, and to entice passengers to either upgrade from Economy Class or try the airline for the first time.

"A significant number of the passengers using our flights between Brisbane and Rockhampton are travelling for business purposes, and this number will increase in line with the strong economic development in the Rockhampton region," said Mr McMillan.

"With recent changes to air services in this market, Alliance now offers the only Business Class product - and for a limited period we will offer Business Class travel on this route for the price of a full Economy Class air fare."

The special Business Class fare is available for sale and travel from today until Saturday 30 November on all Alliance jet services between Brisbane and Rockhampton, Australia, and has no advance booking requirement.
