Travel News Asia 17 September 2002

Air New Zealand today announced substantial discounts off Business and First Class fares from seven Australian cities to the USA to highlight new nonstop flights between Sydney and Los Angeles.

From 27 October, the airline will increase its presence from three to five nonstop flights per week on the Sydney - Los Angeles route, all operated with 392-seat Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

Prices of the "Premium Class Savers" start at just $7209 for Business Class travel from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to LA, and just $9109 for First Class. These prices include all taxes and charges payable in Australia *.

For Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane passengers, these deals represent a reduction of more than $1400 per person off the lowest Business Class fare, while the First Class offer represents a saving of more than $3000.

Special fares also are available from Canberra, Adelaide, Cairns and Perth, including domestic travel to Sydney to join Air New Zealand's nonstop flights to the USA.

These fares are available for departures until 31 January, 2003. They must be booked and paid for by 18 November.

Air New Zealand's Vice President Australia, Mr Paul Donovan, said this special deal enabled business or leisure passengers to experience Air New Zealand's renowned premium class cabins for considerably less cost than competing carriers.

"Air New Zealand is consistently ranked highly for in flight service, and has won several international awards as Best Carrier to the Pacific," said Mr Donovan.

"Our nonstop flights from Sydney to Los Angeles also offer early arrivals into the US West Coast, enabling passengers to connect on the same day with onward services within the USA, Canada and South America," said Mr Donovan.
