Thai Airways International supports the 14th Asian Games in Busan

Today (16 September 2002), at Thai Airways International Head Office, General Yuthasak Sasiprapha, Deputy Defence Minister and President, Olympic Committee of Thailand, together with Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s president and Maj. Gen. Charouck Arirachakaran, Secretary General, Olympic Committee of Thailand and leader of Thai Athletes, held a press conference to announce preparation of the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee said Thai Airways International has continued to place special emphasis on promoting and supporting sport activities both within and outside Thailand. THAI has been selected as the official carrier for the 14th Asian Games in Busan, providing air transportation for athletes, officials and committee members from 27 sport associations in Thailand to take part in the event. 

Currently, THAI operates twice weekly flights between Bangkok and Busan utilizing A300-600 aircraft. 

THAI also operates thrice weekly flights every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and four daily flights every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between Bangkok and Seoul, utilising Boeing 777 and A330-300 aircraft. 

The 14th Asian Games is scheduled to take place in Busan, South Korea during 29 September to 14 October 2002. 

Thailand has been selected as the host country for many world sporting events including the 13th Asian Games in 1998, making a worldwide recognition for the country.
