Six Continents Hotels reaffirms commitment to security

Travel News Asia 16 December 2002

Six Continents Hotels today reaffirms its absolute commitment to the security, safety and comfort of all guests as it provides financial support for Hotel Asia Pacific's Security Workshop in Bali. Together with other leading hotels in the industry, the group is a key sponsor at the workshop that takes place today in an effort to help Bali make a positive response to the October 12 tragedy.

"We remain 100% committed in ensuring the safety of our guests and employees across all our hotels in Asia Pacific," said Richard Hartman, Managing Director, Six Continents Hotels Asia Pacific. "Security is a paramount priority for the group. We are investing in our hotels and have taken prudent measures to step up security at our own facilities in a way that has minimal impact on the comfort of our guests. As a major global hotel company, we continue to lead the industry by supporting initiatives such as the Bali Security Workshop and offering our global knowledge, network and expertise in a way that makes a positive impact on the region's hotel security and corporate travel."

Hosted by Hotel Asia Pacific, the security workshop will bring together top experts in the fields of hotel security and anti-terrorism measures to address approximately 250 senior tourism managers in Bali. Six Continents Hotels is collaborating with other hotel companies as a co-sponsor of the event.

With 151 hotels under its regional portfolio, Six Continents Hotels has in place specific crisis management and anti-terrorism plans. InterContinental Resort Bali for example, has been able to leverage the group's infrastructure, and has undertaken prudent measures based on Six Continents Hotels' global experience.
