Cathay Pacific offers 50% discount on air fares to Hong Kong's senior citizens

Travel News Asia 15 November 2002

Cathay Pacific Airways has announced a special 50% discount offer on air tickets for Hong Kong senior citizens. This exclusive promotion has been launched in celebration of Senior Citizens Day on 17 November.

Between 15 and 30 November, Hong Kong citizens aged 65 or above can take advantage of the 50% discount on Adult Economy Class fares. This offer is applicable on all Cathay Pacific operating flights from Hong Kong to 14 selected Asian destinations. Travellers should depart Hong Kong and complete their journey on or before 15 January 2003.

The new promotion offers an even higher discount than the 25% Senior Discount launched by Cathay Pacific in March 2000. The Senior Discount offer has proven to be extremely popular and has enabled many Hong Kong senior citizens to visit their families around the world or travel to new destinations.

Cathay Pacific General Manager Sales Hong Kong & China Dane Cheng, said: "As the airline of Hong Kong, we are delighted to offer this special discount to Hong Kong senior citizens. With this promotion, we hope to encourage more senior citizens to travel and see the world. They have played a big part in shaping Hong Kong and now, it’s time for them to take a back seat and enjoy themselves."

Since the 25% Senior Discount was launched in March 2000, over 33,000 senior citizens in Hong Kong have already taken up the offer. Their favourite destinations have been Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Tickets are available from the Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office in Hong Kong or any travel agent. The discounts apply both to published fares and market fares. Other terms and conditions apply. Customers are required to present a valid Hong Kong Identity Card, or a Senior Citizen Card issued by the Social Welfare Department when purchasing a senior discount ticket.
