The Regent Wall Streets Romance Package Commemorates Grand Passion in Grand Fashion, Throughout 2000

HONG KONG, --- April 5, 2000 --- Whether its to celebrate a marriage proposal, an engagement or an enduring relationship, love takes on majestic proportions at the recently opened Regent Wall Street. The historic landmark hotel is offering an extraordinary Romance Package that lets one couple with a grand passion celebrate it in a setting to match its scope - in the hotels 12,000-square-foot (1,080 sq.mtrs) Grand Ballroom. This couple can enjoy exclusive use of the room for an elegant soiree and then, when the musicians pack up their instruments, resort to their extravagant loft suite with a terrace overlooking historic Manhattan.

Available throughout 2000, the Romance package includes limousine transfer, champagne upon arrival, exclusive use of the magnificent Regent Ballroom for one night, a live string quartet, a seven-course tasting menu for two, prepared by the hotels award-winning executive chef, John Halligan, a one-night stay in a Deluxe Loft Suite and breakfast in bed or on the suites outdoor terrace the next day. The US$5,000 price includes tax and service. (Accommodations and service for dinner guests may be arranged at an additional cost.)

The Regent Wall Streets grand ballroom, which measures 12,000 square feet (1,080 sq.mtrs) and accommodates a banquet-style party for 1,000 guests, is a formidable example of Greek Revival style. The ballroom, which was redesigned in 1908 by McKim, Mead and White, features grey Botticini marble walls, awe-inspiring Corinthian columns, lofty arched windows and an 80-foot (25 mtrs) ceiling with an elliptical dome that showcases the largest Wedgwood panels in the world.

For their private fete, the couple may choose to preside at a table in the centre of the Ballroom, where a pinpoint spotlight sets an intimate mood, and a 2,700-pound (1,215 kgs) chandelier offsets the rooms elegant floral dcor. Or, they may have their table placed on the Mezzanine overlooking the room.

As the wee hours approach and its time for the couple to retire for the night, they settle into the comfort and luxury of their spacious Loft Suite. The suites traditional Italian design features 14-foot-high (4.4 mtrs) entrance foyers and a private terrace overlooking historic Wall Street contribute to the ambiance of a bygone era. And the suites 160-square-foot (14.4 mtrs) marble bathroom offers a grandeur all its own: a six-foot (1.9 mtrs) soaking tub for two, a separate shower with a built-in stool, a separate lavatory, bath salts, candles, plush robes, oversized towels, adjustable lighting and Bvlgari amenities are among its delights.
