Travel News Asia Date: 9 June 2000

Utell has promoted Ken Takiguchi to the position of vice president of Japan and Korea. Utell is a service of Pegasus Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS), and with more than 6,400 hotel members, Utell ranks as the world’s largest third-party provider of representation, reservations and marketing services to the hotel industry1.

Based in Tokyo, Takiguchi was previously Utell’s director of Japan. He joined the company in 1992 and has acquired a rich business experience and customer-orientation from the positions of reservation, customer service and hotel marketing. In his new role, he will be directly responsible for development, marketing, product support and hotel and travel trade sales.

In announcing Takiguchi’s promotion, Kelvin Seah, Utell’s senior vice president of Asia Pacific, said, “Ken’s appointment is the result of his successes to-date, of having a strong local perspective of the businesses and opportunities and for achieving a win-win partnership with our customers in the region. With the acquisition of Utell by Pegasus Solutions, Ken will, with speed, create a strong leverage for our customers to embrace Pegasus’ new e-marketing tools and products to help grow our customers’ market share and to maintain a competitive technological edge.”

Takiguchi added, “Utell is a well-established name, having been in existence for over 70 years. Now that Utell is a service of Pegasus Solutions, we are able to help our customers harness the power of the Internet to increase their distribution and better manage business by offering them a wider portfolio of services, including automated commission processing, Web-based distribution solutions and business intelligence reports. This will be exciting times for us and I certainly look forward to the opportunities ahead of us.”

Takiguchi brings more than 10 years of hospitality industry experience to his new position. He is a graduate from Michigan State University, USA, in hotel, restaurant and institutional management.
