RAMADA INTERNATIONAL OPENS SECOND PLAZA HOTEL IN CHINA

Travel News Asia Date: 8 December 2000

Former Grand Nations Hotel converted to Ramada Plaza Hotel Shanghai on November 1

Ramada International today announced that the Grand Nations Hotel was converted to a Ramada Plaza hotel early last month. Plaza is Ramada International’s upper-tier lodging product, offering more luxurious amenities than the standard Ramada International hotel.

The 281-room Ramada Plaza Hotel Shanghai is owned and operated by Grand Nations Hotel Limited. The general manager is Yu Wei Ze.

The hotel is located in the heart of Shanghai, a half-block from the Shanghai Opera, People’s Square, the City Government building and a subway station. It is part of a large retail center and the first pedestrian mall in Shanghai.

For dining and entertainment, guests can choose from the hotel’s three restaurants – the Suyu Sichuan Cuisine restaurant, the Grand Nation seafood restaurant and the Athena Atrium. In addition, the hotel has two lounges and a nightclub.

Guests may also take advantage of the hotel’s other amenities – a gift shop, business center, beauty salon, game room, fitness center and sauna.

Ramada Plaza is designed to meet the needs of today’s travelers with luxury amenities and services. All Ramada Plaza hotels have in-room mini-bars, large televisions with at least two English language channels and a movie channel, sunrise check-in as early as 7 a.m., air-conditioning and climate control in every room, a 24-hour health club, concierge services in English and local language, meeting space, at least one restaurant and bar, and 24-hour room service.

Ramada International currently has three hotels in China – a 310-room Ramada Plaza hotel in Wuhan, which opened in October; a Ramada hotel in Guangzhou with 331 rooms; and another in Hong Kong with 205 rooms. Two additional Ramada Plaza hotels located in Suzhou and Nanjing, China will open in late 2000.

Ramada International hotels provide value-conscious guests with the essential elements of a good hotel stay for a fair price. Delivery of five core values ensures the guest has a restful night’s sleep, an invigorating bath experience and a Ramada Mornings breakfast in an attractive hotel that is exceptionally clean and staffed with helpful and friendly personnel.

Ramada International hotels are located in 14 countries and territories, including Bahrain, Finland, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, China, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Germany, Hong Kong and Italy.
