Activities at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit during July/August 2000: July 2000

Exibition and Sale of oils and acrylics - depicting nature at its best from the highest "Dois" in Northern Thailand - entitled "Embrace of the Mountains" by Chiang Rai artist, Sa-ngiam Yarungsee, in The Living Room throughout July (open to the public daily from 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.)

- "Pasta Luuuunnga" Promotion by Chef Marco Cammarata at Rossini's Italian Restaurant featuring a wide variety of Pastas ranging from Vegetarian to Seafood and Meat, with prices from Baht 200++ to Baht 350++ per dish only. Set lunch menus also available: A 2-course meal (Soup or Salad & Pasta) is Baht 450 nett, and a 3-course Soup or Salad, Pasta dish and Dessert costs Baht 600 nett. Entertainment by solo classical guitarist, John Garzoli, Fri/Sat evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. Promotion throughout July.

- Celebrate "Chocolate Dreams" at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvits restaurants serving a selection of innovative chocolate desserts. Promotion throughout July.

On-going: - "basil" Thai restaurant serving homestyle Thai cuisine offers live entertainment by 7-piece "Karaboon" band fronted by two beautiful singers - "Apple" and "Cherry" - under the tutelage of Thailand's leading saxophonist, Tewan Sapsaengyakorn, playing Thurs/Fri/Sat evenings from 7.00 p.m. to 9.45 p.m. Repertoire includes modern Thai jazz music, contemporary folk tunes with a tinge of jazz, and nostalgic, easy listening instrumentals of traditional songs and ballads, both Thai and International.

Until mid-August: "Groove Addiction" band from Montreal, Canada, entertain guests nightly (except Sundays) at Riva's. Lots of dance and funky music, top hits and oldies but goodies, etc.

August Events

August 9-10, 2000: A two-day Symposium on "Two Millennia of India in Asia" organized by The Cosmic Flute Foundation (founder is Julie Mehta, a journalist, art history scholar and author) and sponsored by Indorama. Will feature 12 leading international scholars of Southeast Asia studies as speakers in Ballroom I, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. On the evening of Aug. 9th, a special classical dance performance by India's celebrated dancer, artiste and teacher, Dr. Mallika Sarabhai, will precede a cocktail reception. August 18-24, 2000: One-week Charity Painting Exhibition & Sale by Chinese Artists, organized by Evasion Co., Ltd., in Asoke Room with proceeds of sales going towards AGAPE Home in Chiang Mai for babies with HIV/AIDS. Opening cocktail reception on the evening of Aug. 18th.
