UNITED AIRLINES BEGINS FULL SCALE OPERATIONS AT SAN FRANCISCO’S NEW INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL

Debuts new 19,000 square foot Red Carpet Club, luxuriously appointed

United Arrivals lounge designed to serve frequent business travellers


United Airlines has announced the commencement of full scale operations at San Francisco International Airport’s (SFO) new International Terminal Building (ITB), providing United customers with 18 daily nonstop departures to 15 global destinations including Hong Kong and unsurpassed amenities.

The new, state-of-the-art terminal is home to United Airlines’ largest international gateway, and will provide the airline with 12 new gates for wide-body aircraft to accommodate its daily nonstop flights to Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Calgary, Frankfurt, London, Mexico City, Paris, Sydney, Toronto, and Vancouver. United will also share space in the ITB with its Star Alliance partners, providing seamless access to over 700 destinations around the world.

“United is proud to be a part of this magnificent facility and we commend the City of San Francisco for making this new terminal—which will be recognized around the world as the benchmark gateway for international travel—a reality,” said Stuart Oran, United Airlines senior vice president¾international.

Unsurpassed Amenities

As part of the move to the new International Terminal Building, United unveiled a new Red Carpet Club, an exclusive United Arrivals Lounge for international first and business class customers, and a United International First Class Lounge.

“It’s only fitting that United’s largest international gateway is home to North America’s largest Red Carpet Club, and a host of other facilities designed specifically for the international business traveler ” continued Oran. “Regardless of whether customers want to work or relax before or after their flight, United’s state-of-the-art club and lounges in SFO’s International Terminal Building will offer an unparalleled level of service to United’s global business travelers.”

Red Carpet Club

The new Red Carpet Club, which measures 19,000 square feet and can seat 342 customers, is the largest club of its kind in North America. The club offers a place for business travelers to work or rest away from the busy atmosphere of the terminal, and its amenities include: a personalized business center with fax and printer, 46 business work stations, assistance with flight arrangements, laptop data and power sources, fax machines, and complimentary food and beverage service.

United Arrivals Facility

United has also opened a 4,000 square foot United Arrivals facility that provides eligible United First and United Business Class customers with luxurious new amenities such as 14 private, spa-like shower suites, and valet service including garment pressing and shoe shines. United Arrivals facilities are designed for international customers who want to freshen-up before taking advantage of a full working day following an early morning arrival at SFO.

United International First Class Lounge

Additionally, United is opening a 7,500 square foot United International First Class Lounge in the new terminal building. The facility seats 110 comfortably and provides a quiet escape for customers before and after their international journey. In the lounge, International First Class customers can enjoy unparalleled levels of personal service and amenities, including two shower-suites and “quiet room” that features several leather recliner chairs.

United is San Francisco’s leading airline, offering nearly 230 daily departures to 46 U.S. and 15 international destinations. United is also the largest air carrier in the world, operating more than 2,400 flights to 130 destinations in 26 countries and two U.S. territories. >From Hong Kong, United offers daily nonstop service to Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Singapore and Tokyo. Non-stop service to New York and Delhi, India will begin on April 2, 2001.
