"THE VERTICAL MARATHON 2000" MORE THAN 300 PEOPLE JOIN IN RACE AGAINST GRAVITY

The race against gravity is achieved ! More than 300 runners participated in the run against gravity "Vertical Marathon 2000" at The Westin Banyan Tree Bangkok on 30th July 2000. The event was joined by both runners as well as viewers who came to see who can complete the race against gravity in the shortest time possible. Kids from the Human Development Center and Phyathai Babies Home also joined in the fun and performed dances and stunts for the audience.

The overall individual male champion is Khun Tawatchai Preeprem, with a timing of 6 minutes and 42 seconds. Khun Tawatchai happens to be last year's winner too. He wins for himself a round-trip ticket to Singapore, two nights stay at The Westin Stamford Singapore and dining voucher at The Westin Banyan Tree.

The overall female champion is Khun Jutarat Invichieng with a timing of 8 minutes 56 seconds. She receives a round-trip ticket to Singapore, 2 nights stay at Sheraton Towers Singapore and dining voucher at The Westin Banyan Tree. The oldest male participant is the ever strong and fit 71 year old, Khun Samnieng Bangjit. She completed with a timing of 9 minutes and 6 seconds, which happened to be the same timing as the youngest participant, Khun Ryosuke Hayashi from Japan, who is 8 years old only.

DJ's from FM 95.5 also participated in the run and invited listeners to guess how long they took to run up Bangkok's tallest business hotel. DJ Oscar conquered the 1,093 steps up the building in 37 minutes and 23 seconds whilst DJ Richie 'O' completed in 17 minutes.

Participants can now receive their certificates of participation from Business Center of The Westin Banyan Tree Bangkok.
