Portugals Team Tops the 12th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest

Two splendid fireworks shows lit up the sky of Macau last night (10/1) and marked the finale of the 12th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest. The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held at Ritz Hotel right after the firework contest.

Portugals Macedos Pirotecnia was the winner of the 12th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest, the second prize went to Englands Pyro 2000 Fireworks and third to Germanys NICO Fireworks.

There were ten teams from different countries and regions around the world participated in this years Fireworks Display Contest, including China, Portugal, Germany, Australia, England, Switzerland, Thailand, Philippines, Japan and Taiwan. The contest started from September 9 and two teams featured their glamorous fireworks in each of the 5 nights.

As yesterday was the National Day and with conditions ideal a clear sky and slight winds, crowds flocked to the waterfront in Nam Van Lake and NAPE to enjoy the spectacular fireworks.

At the ceremony, Director of Macau Government Tourist Office Joo Manuel Costa Antunes expressed that Macau International Fireworks Display Contest was a great international event. Each team presented to the spectators wonderful and unique firework glamour and contribute in promoting the tourism of Macau to the world.

The Macau International Fireworks Display Contest was organized by Macau Government Tourist Office of Macau Special Administrative Region and sponsored by Sociedade de Turismo e Diverses de Macau.
