New on-line hotel booking service

Travel News Asia Date: 29 June 2000

British Airways’ UK customers can now book hotels as well as flights through the airline’s website (www.britishairways.co.uk). The new service makes British Airways the first airline in the UK to offer simultaneous on-line hotel reservations.

The choice of hotels from over 35 destinations has been selected by the airline’s own tour operator British Airways Holidays from their Worldwide Options brochure. Prices start from £12 per person per night at the three diamond rated Ebina House Hotel in Bangkok, £19 at the three diamond rated Quality Inn in Orlando and £23 per person per night at two diamond rated Amarys Lamarck in Paris.

The on-line booking service not only allows customers to book hotels at the same time as flights, but also offers the facility of adding a hotel to an existing flight booking at a later date.

Customers can browse the selection of hotels, which are featured with real time availability and prices together with hotel photographs and detailed destination information.

Martin Lock, Head of Exploitation Business to Consumer British Airways said: "We are the only UK airline to offer this innovative hotel booking service for our customers.
The booking of flights on-line has grown substantially this year, so we are confident that many people will take advantage of the great value hotels on offer when they book a flight"

"We have chosen hotels in our most popular destinations and look forward to expanding the range to include all 150 cities and resorts offered in the British Airways Holidays’ Worldwide Options brochure."

Further examples include £24 per person per night in the Quality Hotel Maingate, Anaheim, Los Angeles (three diamond) and £50 per night in the Skyline in New York (three diamond). In Hong Kong prices, including return airport transfers, start from £48 for a night at the Wesley (three diamond) and £18 for subsequent nights. In Cape Town, the first night price includes return airport transfers and starts at £56 at the Holiday Inn Garden Court de Waal (three diamond) and subsequent nights from £19 per person.
