THAI Organizes Project in Commemoration of the Centenary Celebration of the Birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra the Princess Mother

At Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, Mr. Thamnoon Wanglee, THAI’s President, presided over a press conference to announce “THAI and the Project in Commemoration of the Centenary Celebration of the Birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra the Princess Mother”. Mr. Bhisit Kuslasayanon, THAI’s Executive Vice President, Customer Services, also attended the press conference. The project aims to commemorate the centenary of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother, whom the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recognized as a “Great Personality” and to promote her benevolence throughout the world.

THAI has arranged activities to celebrate this auspicious event as follows:

1. Promote products from the Doi Tung Development Project to passengers travelling on THAI flights as follows :

1.1 Promotional Giveaways include :

- Textile Products which include scarves, shawls, place mats, and bags for Business Class passengers departing from and returning to Bangkok which for flights flown up to 5 hours or more throughout October 2000

- Tissue case (made of Faak Grass) for Business Class passengers on international flights departing from Bangkok for flights flown up to 5 hours or more during May-June 2000

- Macadamia nuts in flax bag for distribution to passengers in all classes, on domestic and international flights departing from Bangkok on 21 October 2000

1.2 Special Menu - Tomatoes from the Royal Project will be used in preparing Italian salad as the first course menu for Business and Economy Class passengers on all international flights departing from Bangkok throughout October 2000

1.3 Beverages

- Coffee from the Doi Tung Development Project will be served to passengers flying on domestic flights in all classes throughout October 2000 and to all passengers on board THAI flights during January 2001

- O-Leang (Thai Black Coffee with Ice) from the Doi Tung Development Project will be served to passengers flying on domestic and international flights in all classes departing from Bangkok throughout October 2000

1.4 Inflight Products

- Flight Wallet with Mulberry Paper cover : the set contains writing paper and envelopes made from Mulberry Paper , and 4 postcards printed with pictures of the Doi Tung Development Project for First and Business Class passengers travelling on flights flown up to 5 hours and more during 20-22 October 2000

- Tray Mat made from Mulberry Paper for Business Class passengers on all flights departing from and returning to Bangkok flown up to 5 hours and more during 20-22 October 2000

- Menu Cover made from Kok Leaf for First Class passengers and menu cover made from Mulberry Paper for Business Class passengers will be used on all international flights throughout October 2000

- Food Box for passengers flying domestic flights in all classes throughout October 2000

2. Inflight Documentary Video : There are 2 Thai/English documentary videos which have been shown during inflight entertainment programming on all domestic and international flights, the videos being as follows :

2.1 “Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteers” Documentary Video was shown inflight between July – September 2000

2.2 “Doi Tung Development Project” Documentary Video produced by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation will be shown throughout October 2000

3. Exhibitions have been arranged to publicize the noble activities and achievements of Her Royal Highness Princess Mother at 24 domestic airports around Thailand.

In addition, THAI has featured articles about H.R.H the Princess Mother in THAI’s inflight magazines, “Kinnaree” and “Sawasdee” in the July and October 2000 issues.
