Travel News Asia Date: 24 July 2000

Galileo International, Inc. (NYSE: GLC) today announced that Matthew Miau, chairman of the MiTAC-Synnex Group, has been elected to the Galileo International Board of Directors. Miau is serving an initial three-year term on the board.

Miau, a pioneer in the Taiwan computer industry, was instrumental in building one of the world’s leading information technology conglomerates. It was under Miau’s leadership that MiTAC grew into a global group of information technology companies called the MiTAC-Synnex Group (MiTAC International Corporation, MiTAC Inc. and Synnex Technology and Synnex International).

In addition, Miau currently serves as president of Union Petrochemicals and vice chairman of BOC-Lienhwa Industrial Gases. He also is a key member and advisor on some of Taiwan’s most influential information technology consortiums and boards.

Matthew is truly a leader in the information technology arena and is a strong addition to the board,” said James E. Barlett, chairman, president and CEO of Galileo. “With his years of experience in the global IT marketplace, he brings a valuable perspective to our board.”

Prior to joining the MiTAC Group in 1976, Miau worked in numerous engineering and marketing positions with the Intel Corporation. Miau holds a bachelor’s of science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley and a master’s of business administration degree from Santa Clara University, California.
