Travel News Asia Date: 23 December 2000

Regal Hotels International is pleased to announce its successful sponsorship for the Hong Kong Open Golf Championship 2000 that was held December 14 - 17, 2000 at Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, Hong Kong.

This was the first time for the Hotel Group to take an initiative in supporting the golf activities in the territory. As the “Official Hotel” of the Hong Kong Open, Regal Hotels International continues to enhance the quality of life in the community where it operates. Through sponsoring the Hong Kong Open, Regal Hotels International brought golf to the greater community while providing excellent Oriental hospitality services to its guests.

Noted by Regal Hotels International’s Director of Marketing Ms. Maria Tsai, “It is really our pleasure to be one of the sponsors of such a prominent sports event as the Hong Kong Open this year. The Open was a great success last week. Our contribution to this event has been going in line with our mission of offering excellent Oriental hospitality services to our guests. There may seem to be a distance between hospitality and sport. But if we view them from the betterment of lifestyle, the two are just different means that work towards the same ends.”

The Hong Kong Open 2000 is the closing event on the Asian PGA's year-long Davidoff Tour. The Hong Kong Open is the oldest professional sporting event held in Hong Kong and is considered to be the foremost National Open in Asia outside Japan. It has a tradition of attracting the best golf players in the world. Golf has blossomed in Hong Kong and southern China over the past decade.
