MAGNUS AND LETTENBICHLER APPOINTEDTO HKTA BOARD

 The Hong Kong Financial Secretary The Hon Donald Tsang Yam-kuen, JP, has appointed Messrs George Magnus and Mark Lettenbichler to the Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) Board of Management, for a term with effect from 1 November 2000 until 31 October 2002.

Mr Magnus, who is Deputy Chairman of Cheung Kong Holdings and also Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners, has been elected to represent Members in the class of “Hotel Proprietors”, upon the expiry of Ms Paddy W Y Lui’s term of office.

Mr Lettenbichler is General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong and is also Chairman of the Hong Kong Hotels Association Executive Committee.

They join Secretary for Economic Services Ms Sandra Lee (or the Commissioner for Tourism) and seven other Members of the HKTA Board, chaired by The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, JP.

As at 21 November 2000, the other Members of the HKTA Board of Management are as follows:

· Mr Philip Chen, JP, Director and Chief Operating Officer, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd

· Mr Stanley Ko, JP, Director, Jardine Pacific Ltd

· Mr Paul Chiu, Managing Director, PC Tours & Travel

· Mr Chung Po-yang, JP, Chairman, DHL International (Hong Kong) Ltd

· Mr Patrick Yeung, Managing Director, Cathay Holidays Ltd

· Mr Dick Kaufman, Executive Director, DKA (Asia) Ltd

· Mr Robert Chow, Chief Executive Officer and President of Panda-Recruit Limited

Mrs Chow, Mr Chow, Ms Lee, Mr Ko and Mr Chung were all appointed to the Board by Government and the remaining members elected by HKTA Members. They represent the interests of Hong Kong’s travel and tourism industry: Mr Chiu represents Tour Operators; Mr Yeung represents Recognised Travel Agents; Mr Chen represents International Passenger Carriers; and Mr Kaufman represents HKTA Ordinary Members.
