Travel News Asia Date: 20 September 2000

Virgin Atlantic is delighted to announce that it has appointed the French retailer Aeroboutique Inflight Retail (AIR) as its new duty free supplier.

Lysette Gauna, Inflight Entertainment Manager for Virgin Atlantic said:

“We are very excited about this new partnership and can’t wait to start working on the new range. This contract is unique by being tailor made for Virgin Atlantic to reflect our strengths in marketing and brand values and AIR’s strengths in logistics, technology and programme management.”

Pierre Freyssinet, managing director of Aeroboutique Inflight Retail (AIR) commented:

“We are delighted to be operating Virgin’s Retail Therapy programme. This is a real challenge and our commitment to the airline is to ensure that we use AIR’s logistical and retail know-how to maintain and then increase Virgin’s marketing edge. We consider it a very special and inspiring account”.

Aeroboutique, which has created a subsidiary in the UK to operate the programme which is due to start on 1 November, also has contracts with Air France and three smaller French airlines.

Virgin Atlantic has set new standards for the duty free industry with a product range that is second to none. In recognition of this it was last year’s Frontier Retailer of the Year award winner. Last year Virgin Atlantic’s retail range was relaunched Retail Therapy, Virgin’s inflight catalogue, making shopping with Virgin Atlantic a unique experience. The inflight range offers ‘retail therapy’ for everyone from designer label junkies to fashion conscious teenagers and technowhizzes with many items exclusive to Virgin Atlantic.
