Toronto Travel Advisory

Travel News Asia Date: 16 August 2000

Due to a planned shutdown of the NAV Canada Instrument Landing System (ILS) August 4-27, 2000 during construction at Toronto's Pearson International Airport, combined area weather, airlines serving that airport, including Air Canada and Canadian Airlines, have been advised by NAV Canada that a ground delay program has been instituted at the airport.

Consequently, Air Canada and Canadian Airlines arrivals are currently delayed up to two hours. Due to the lateness of incoming aircraft, some departures may be delayed later today.

As the situation is constantly evolving, exact numbers of affected flights are not available.

Delays can be expected during low visibility weather conditions until the ILS system becomes operational on August 27, 2000 at Pearson International Airport.

Air Canada and Canadian Airlines customers who have not already been notified by the airlines' reservations staff of these delays may call the following toll free numbers for information on the status of their Air Canada or Canadian Airlines flight :

- Passengers on Air Canada-operated flights: 1-800-472-4544

- Passengers on Canadian Airlines-operated flights: 1-800-665-1177

(Canada English); 1-800- 363-7530 (French); 1-800-426-7000 (U.S.A.).

Up-to-date flight information may be obtained by consulting Air Canada's and Canadian Airlines' websites at www.aircanada.ca or www.cdnair.ca, or by phoning reservations.
