MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL INTRODUCES THE “EM” CODE TO AMADEUS

Travel News Asia Date: 16 August 2000

Code allows Travel Agents to View All Marriott Brands

Marriott International’s (NYSE:MAR) chain code, EM, which represents Every Marriott Brand, will now be available to travel agents around the world who use AMADEUS when searching for Marriott International hotels.

Prior to introducing EM, travel agents, whose clients wanted to “shop” several or all of Marriott International’s brands before making a choice, needed to know each of the individual chain’s codes to access availability. Now with one request, travel agents can easily identify all available alternatives at the location. Travel agents still have the ability to search for a specific brand by the individual chain code.

“The EM code allows travel agents who use AMADEUS and who may not be familiar with all of Marriott’s brands to assist their clients in finding a Marriott brand hotel either in the U.S. or internationally,” said Bruce Wolff, senior vice president distribution sales and marketing. “In addition, the EM chain code saves time and eliminates keystrokes for all travel agents.”

The EM chain code includes the following brands :

- Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites

- Renaissance Hotels, Resorts and Suites

- Courtyard by Marriott

- Fairfield Inn by Marriott

- Ramada International Hotels and Resorts

- Residence Inn by Marriott

- SpringHill Suites by Marriott

- Swallow Hotels

- TownePlace Suites by Marriott

- Ramada International Hotels and Resorts
