CATHAY PACIFIC OFFERS UPGRADES FOR 50% LESS ASIA MILES

Travel News Asia Date: 15 June 2000

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced a new promotion offering Asia Miles members a 50% discount for Economy to Business Class upgrade awards between 16 June and 10 September this year. The offer applies to both one way and round trip tickets and can be used for all Cathay Pacific flights except Middle East and India services. To qualify for the offer, members first have to purchase a Cathay Pacific Economy Class ticket.

During the offer period, an upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class for travel with Cathay Pacific between Hong Kong and Johannesburg will require just 30,000 Asia Miles, instead of the usual 60,000. For flights between Hong Kong and Perth, a Business Class upgrade will require just 22,500 Asia Miles.

Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes General Manager Ron Mathison said: "The Asia Miles loyalty programme has been designed to make earning free flights and upgrades as easy as possible for our customers. This new promotion gives our valued passengers easier access than ever to our high-quality and award-winning Business Class service."

Cathay Pacific's Business Class offers passengers a luxurious travel experience both on the ground and in the air. Business Class passengers have access to the airline's luxurious airport lounges, exceptionally spacious seats, larger leg-room, a wider choice of high-quality Asian and western cuisine, and a greater range of inflight entertainment via personal television sets installed in every seat.
