HILTON INTERNATIONAL WINS FIVE AWARDS IN LONDON AND PARIS

Travel News Asia Date: 13 December 2000

Hilton International recently won a total of five awards at events in London and Paris.

In London, on Tuesday 28th November, Hilton International won two awards at The HotelSpec European Hotel Design & Development Awards 2000. The awards recognise design excellence and encourage best practice throughout the European hospitality sector.

Hilton International was awarded the Best Hotel Architectural Design trophy for the new Hilton Budapest WestEnd hotel in Hungary. This was chosen because its modern style has been skilfully blended with traditional Magyar architecture to produce a contemporary international hotel.

The Hilton Lyon was the winner in the Most Environmentally Responsible Hotel Innovation category in recognition of the environmental technology that has been incorporated in the fundamental design of the hotel. Its skilful use of glass and vertical fabric blinds reduces the load on the air conditioning and conserves energy.

At the Hermes Awards 2000 in Paris on Monday 27th November, an event organised by MKG Conseil and HTR Eurotrends & Marketing, Hilton International won 3 awards, having been nominated for 5 of the twelve categories : Best Central Reservation System; Best Partnership and Best Room Concept. The Best Central Reservation System award went to Hilton Reservations Worldwide, a state-of-the-art system which annually handles an average of 7 million reservations via 14 call centres worldwide. All rooms are available in real time and can be booked in 10 languages.

The Best Partnership award was won for the partnership formed by Hilton, Accor and Forte Hotels to develop a European Internet joint venture. The joint venture will create a web-based hotel and travel reservation system, initially focussing on room reservations. The first website will be launched early in 2001.

The Best Room Concept award went to the Hilton Munich Park for the four Innovation rooms that have been created at the hotel, designed to meet the desires and aspirations of hotel guests for the 21st century.
