Eiffel Tower gets Ice Rink for Christmas

Travel News Asia 9 December 2004

Paris is already one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and this year, the beautiful city's most recognised landmark, the Eiffel Tower, is offering residents and visitors a special Christmas treat - an ice rink.

Located 57 metres up on the tower's first level the creative 200 sqm ice rink can hold up to 80 skaters at any one time, and offers some great views of Paris. The rink will be open from 9:30 am to 11pm between 10 December 2004 and 23 January 2005.

Roughly 6 million people climb the 324-meter high tower every year. Free rink access and ice skates will be available free of charge in exchange for a passport or other piece of identification.
