Qatar Airways Privilege Club partners with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts

Travel News Asia 9 December 2004

Qatar Airways has signed up international hotel group Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts as its latest partner of its Privilege Club frequent flyer programme.

Members of Privilege Club can earn a minimum of 500 Qmiles for each stay at one of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts' 53 properties worldwide for redemption on flights of Qatar Airways and its partner airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Middle East Airlines and All Nippon Airways.

In addition, all Privilege Club members, whether they hold Gold, Silver or Burgundy status – have the opportunity to secure upgrades on Qatar Airways flights with their accrued Qmiles.

Qatar Airways currently operates scheduled flights from its hub in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf, to 56 destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Indian subcontinent and the Far East.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is a Swiss-based group of four- and five-star business and leisure hotels combining the best of Swiss heritage and hospitality in 17 countries.

The company is one of the biggest operators of hotels in the Middle East and will be adding 5,000 new rooms around the world over the next few years giving Privilege Club members greater opportunities to accrue Qmiles.

Over the past 18 months, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts took over the management of properties in Istanbul, Kuwait, Dubai and Bahrain, adding almost 700 rooms in the region. A new 434-room five-star Mövenpick Resort at Taba on Egypt's Red Sea coast is scheduled to open in 2005, commanding spectacular views across the Gulf of Aqaba to Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Qatar Airways’ manager of Privilege Club, Gregory Epps said the partnership with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts reflected the same vision both companies share of operating quality international brands with high levels of service.

“We are extremely pleased to have tied up with Mövenpick Hotels because they have an established network of hotels in the Middle East, Europe and Northern Africa which is growing at a phenomenal pace,” he said.

“Qatar Airways is also developing rapidly and with both our companies widening our networks, we are able to offer our Privilege Club members more opportunities to earn Qmiles in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts' properties and redeem them on our flights and on our partner airlines.”
