InterContinental Hotels Group is to manage a new hotel in Tianjin's Economic and Development Area (TEDA), in China.

A mere 5-kilometer drive from the Tianjin port and easily accessible from the Tianjin city center, the Holiday Inn Binhai Tianjin will be part of a major business and leisure complex, boasting an expansive shopping mall that will feature fast food restaurants, entertainment outlets, and a cinema.

The hotel will feature three food and beverage outlets, each with its own distinct offerings - a restaurant featuring a wide array of local and specialty cuisine, a cozy coffee shop serving a selection of popular Western and Asian dishes, and a lobby lounge that will feature live entertainment.

The Holiday Inn Binhai Tianjin is a new build hotel with 250 well-appointed guestrooms and suites, health and recreational facilities that include an indoor swimming pool, two tennis courts, a fully-equipped gym, a billiard hall, a beauty salon and a 500-square meter Spa.

Tianjin is one of the four municipalities under the direct leadership of the Chinese Central Government, along with Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. TEDA is situated southeast of Tianjin city and is considered the seat of the Tianjin economy, registering a GDP of RMB38.009 billion in 2002 or 18.8% of Tianjin’s total GDP.

Since its establishment in 1984, TEDA has absorbed more than US$10 billion in direct foreign investment from over 3,500 multinational companies that include Motorola, Samsung, Toyota, Yamaha, Coca-Cola, Honda, Panasonic, Hyundai, Nestle’, etc. In addition, there are more than 10,000 domestic enterprises registered in the economic development zone. In 2002 alone, TEDA’s export value reached US$5.706 billion.

The Holiday Inn Binhai Tianjin is slated to open third quarter 2005.
