InterContinental Hotels Group new voucher scheme gets underway

Travel News Asia 8 July 2004

The InterContinental Hotels Group has launched a new voucher scheme for travel agents offering access to the most competitive published hotel rates and ensuring instant payment of commission.

Agents who have completed the simple approval process to join in the voucher scheme can now make bookings through the InterContinental Hotels Group Middle East Central Reservations Office (MECRO) allowing them to take payment directly from the customer and guarantee the customer’s booking with a print-out voucher, generated through a secure and dedicated web site.

So far almost 100 agents around the Middle East have signed up to take part in the pre-paid voucher scheme, which allows travel agents to make bookings in InterContinental Hotels Group properties all over the Middle East, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Europe and selected properties in the Asia Pacific region.

The new system will allow commission on the booking to be taken at source by the agent and the outstanding amount can then be passed on to InterContinental Hotels Group through the system’s facilitating company, every 15 days.

Denis Johnson, vice president sales & marketing Middle East & North Africa, said: “Using online technology combined with our toll-free central reservations service means we can provide a useful tool for agents, making the booking process easier and more efficient, while ensuring agents get their commission immediately.”
