Travel News Asia 8 January 2004

Veteran hotelier, Georges Chauve, creator and owner/partner of Inwood Hotels is set to open the group's second property in the heart of Paris: Hotel Le Marquis.

Hotel and Restaurant, Le Marquis opens January 15th, 2004 and is situated on a quiet road at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and is steps from the gardens of the Champs de Mars.

This newly constructed hotel provides 36 rooms each equipped with VCD/DVD player, satellite international television, free of charge high-speed internet, 3 double-line phones, 24-hour room service, same day pressing and dry cleaning, mini-bar with Champagne, individual reading lights at bedside, air-conditioning and personal safe. Oil paintings by local Paris artists have been specially created for each room.

Le Marquis provides a state-of-the-art conference room, a private library with fireplace and a French cuisine restaurant supervised by French chef Eric Boriès.

With over 25 years of hotel experience and a degree from the Hotel School of Lausanne in Switzerland, Chauve has managed, reorganized and repositioned existing luxury properties in Asia, Europe and in the United States.

With the intent to create Inwood Hotels, Georges Chauve returned to Paris in early 2000 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he was Director of Operations and General Manager of the Allson Hotels and Resorts ( at that time 12 hotel properties in South East Asia including the flagship property, the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel).

Prior, Chauve served for nearly a decade as General Manager for the Renaissance Hotel Group opening and re-organizing Renaissance hotel properties in Hong Kong, China; Sapporo, Japan; Malacca, Malaysia and in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In Europe, Chauve re-positioned the (now Sofitel) Le Grand Hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands as a leading hotel amongst the city’s luxury hotel properties. In Paris France, he was briefly the Director of the Hotel Crillon.

As a young hotelier, Georges worked for over seven years in both operations and in beverage for the Meridien Hotels in New York, Paris and in Newport Beach, California.

On September 5th 2003, Georges opened his first Inwood Hotel in Paris: Le Walt.

Le Walt has a growing reputation for its personalized customer service. The Restaurant Le Walt, under the direction of chef Eric Boriès, has met with excellent reviews by top Paris food critics.
