EIBTM 2004 Visitor Numbers Exceed Expectations

Travel News Asia 8 December 2004

EIBTM is celebrating its inaugural success at the Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, with visitor numbers far exceeding expectations. Top line figures for Hosted Buyers and trade visitors are reported to be 5700 which is an increase of 53% over Geneva 2003. Equally, Hosted Buyers also showed a 15% rise in numbers to over 2,400.

Organisers, Reed Travel Exhibitions, believe that EIBTM’s success is due to the show’s new timing and location, increased number of pre-scheduled appointments plus more networking opportunities.

Kirsty Sully, Promotions and Incentives Manager for the Canadian Tourism Commission commented, “The increased number of Hosted Buyers and appointments this year has helped our business and the stand has been full most of the time. We have taken more business than last year and there has been more Spanish interest as well.”

Ms Deborah Wroe, Conference Co-ordinator, Association of University Administrators concurred, “I have been very impressed with the event this year and I have had a very enjoyable experience. Barcelona is a fabulous location for EIBTM and the social occasions have been fantastic. I will definitely be returning in the years to come.”
