Air Tahiti Nui and Delta Air Lines announce Partnership Intentions

Travel News Asia 8 November 2004

Air Tahiti Nui has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Atlanta-based U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines to negotiate a Marketing Relationship.

Potential areas of cooperation in such an agreement include agreements for codeshare services (including passengers, cargo and mail), frequent flyer program participation, joint advertising and promotions, and other mutually agreed areas of marketing cooperation.

Air Tahiti Nui spokesperson Nelson Levy, Chief Operating Officer, stated that the opportunity for both carriers is unique as there is little or no overlap between the current operations of either airline. He added “Our relatively young airline has again managed to benefit from its successful business model and acknowledged service reputation to enable this kind of relationship with a respected global carrier such as Delta Air Lines.”

Delta Air Lines celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2004. Delta is the world's second-largest airline in terms of passengers carried, offering daily flights to 496 destinations in 88 countries on Delta, Song, Delta Shuttle, the Delta Connection carriers and its worldwide partners.

Air Tahiti Nui is headquartered in Tahiti, French Polynesia and operates a modern fleet of long-range Airbus A340-300 aircraft serving Tahiti, Los Angeles, Paris, Auckland, Tokyo and Osaka. The company launches services to Sydney and New York in July 2005.
