Cendant Travel Distribution Services forms Specialist Hotel Distribution Team

Travel News Asia 8 November 2004

Cendant Travel Distribution Services has created a dedicated hotel distribution team for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia Pacific region. The specialist team is responsible for enriching the hotel content for all of Cendant TDS’ distribution channels, including both online channels and GDS sales through travel agencies, by working with hotel partners in key markets to ensure that all Cendant TDS’ channels are delivering the very best rates to agencies and consumers alike.

With a wealth of operational and distribution experience within the hospitality and travel industry, the team will work with hotels to ensure they maximize their distribution opportunities via leading edge GDS products as well as developing their online distribution capabilities without sacrificing control of their inventory or rates.

The hotel distribution team report to Richard Wiegmann, Vice President Hospitality & Leisure EMEA & Asia Pacific. Wiegmann manages the strategic development for TDS’ hotel distribution channels in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, the Pacific region and Australia. With nearly 20 years in the travel industry Wiegmann previously was managing director of the Cendant-owned TRUST International, the leading CRS provider.

“This new sales team is comprised of a dynamic and experienced group of executives who will further enable us to address the unique challenges facing our growing and diverse base of hotel customers. Under pressure to extend their distribution, hotels also need to maintain control of their inventory and rates, and it is reaching this difficult balance that Cendant TDS is in the unique position to be able to help them with. By combining their expertise with the right solutions, we can assist our leading hotel clients in significantly growing their business.” said Wiegmann.
