The
Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai has appointed Mr Ian Dearmer as Director of Sales and Marketing. This appointment reflects
a return to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts for Dearmer who was Director of
Marketing at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in the late
eighties.
Dearmer is no stranger to the Middle East region with more than 13 years
experience gained in senior positions with hotels in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain
and Qatar. His experience also includes roles held in Africa, Australasia
and Europe. Immediately prior to joining the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai Mr
Dearmer was Director of Sales and Marketing for the Sheraton Doha Hotel and
Resort in Qatar.
His career history includes experience with brands such as
InterContinental, Rosewood, Hyatt and Marriott.
In his new role Mr Dearmer is responsible for overseeing all sales,
marketing, communications, reservations and events management activities
for the hotel.
Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai is the first of four new properties Shangri-La
Hotels and Resorts are opening in the Gulf in the next three years. The
Traders Hotel, Dubai opened in July 2004, with Shangri-La properties in
both Oman and Qatar planned to open in 2005/6. |
