Andrew Houghton assumes his new post with Marriott in Washington

Mr. Andrew Houghton has been appointed as Brand Executive, Full Service Brands for Marriott International based at the companies corporate headquarters in Washington D.C. beginning October 2004.

Andrew successfully launched the flagship JW Marriott Hotel in Cairo and most recently served as the General Manager of the J.W. Marriott Cairo Hotel in Egypt where he successfully opened and built the business since 2000.

“He has demonstrated patience and perseverance during this period and put together a great team who continue to take the JW Marriott Cairo to new levels of excellence” commented Mr. Anton Najjar, Area Vice President, Middle East and Africa.

Andrew has also served as General Manager of the Riyadh Marriott Hotel in Saudi Arabia, Hotel Manager for the Conrad Hotel & Casino in Istanbul, Turkey, General Manager of European Sales for Hilton Hotels Corporation based in London, and Director of Sales and Marketing in various countries.

In his new capacity, Mr. Houghton will have responsibilities for defining and developing the business strategies, positioning, and economic value proposition for the J.W. Marriott brand to compete in the luxury segment. He will serve as the primary brand champion to lead core teams in framing and developing the global product, service, demand, design, and growth platforms of the business. Mr. Houghton will have similar responsibilities for the Marriott Executive Apartment brand. He will also have additional responsibilities in leading core initiatives across our Full Service brands including helping to drive product reinvestment and evolving our service platforms.
