Raffles International appoints Director of Global Sales, Tokyo

Raffles International has appointed Mrs Elsie Chia-Ozaku as Director, Global Sales - Singapore Hotels. She will be based in Tokyo.

As Director, Global Sales - Singapore Hotels, Mrs Ozaku will focus on increasing outbound business from Japan to the four Raffles International hotels in Singapore, namely, Raffles Hotel, Raffles The Plaza, Swissôtel The Stamford and Swissôtel Merchant Court. 

Japan is a major feeder market for Singapore, with Japanese visitors accounting for more than 433,000 arrivals in 2003. This number put Japan's outbound market in the top five visitor-generating markets for Singapore last year.

Having worked for over 18 years for the Singapore Tourism Board in Japan where she last held the position of Regional Director for North Asia, Mrs Ozaku has an in-depth knowledge and experience of the Japanese tourism sector. She was actively involved in various tourism and tourism-related associations and councils and these include positions as a Board Member of the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau and as Hakodate City Tourism Ambassador.

Mrs Ozaku holds a Bachelor of Science degree (First Class Honours) from the University of Singapore and a Certificate in Japanese from the Reitaku School of Japanese.
