Accor to launch three hotels in Bali

Accor is launching three hotels in Bali. Launching this month is the Mercure Resort Sanur, which will be followed by the Sofitel Seminyak, and early next year, the Ibis Legian. They join two other Accor hotels on Bali – Novotel Benoa Bali and Mercure Kuta – and a Novotel on neighbouring Lombok.

For the first nine months of 2004, Accor hotels in Bali have dramatically increased their occupancy rates when compared to 2003. Sofitel Seminyak Bali enjoyed the largest jump of almost 50 per cent to a 73% average occupancy, while the Mercure Kuta recorded an average occupancy rate of 89%.

While the largest growth in the market has come from Europe and Asia, there has also been a substantial return of the traditionally strong Australian and New Zealand markets, despite continuing uncertainties elsewhere in Indonesia.

Mercure Resort Sanur was officially launched on 1 November and is located on the Sanur beachfront and the hotel’s rooms and villas are set in luscious tropical gardens. Traditional Balinese thatched roofs complement the attractive Balinese design of the accommodation and public facilities.

The resort offers 184 rooms each with a private terrace or balcony, two swimming pools, one of them facing the ocean, as well as a children’s pool.

An innovative addition to the hotel’s lobby is a Departure Lounge, designed to cater for guests (particularly from Australia and New Zealand) who have flights leaving Bali late at night. Shower facilities are available from 12 noon to 01:00 am for those wanting a last ocean swim or to freshen up before departure, with drinks and light snacks available.

Opening in January 2005, the Arjuna Spa and Fitness Centre will include open-air massage huts offering traditional Balinese massage and wellness treatments.

Modern meeting facilities for up to 500 delegates make Mercure Resort Sanur an exceptional choice for incentive groups and corporate retreats.

To celebrate the opening, Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali is offering a rate of US$47++ with breakfast from now until 31 March, 2005 (except from 26 December 2004 to 6 January 2005).

Accor’s Sofitel brand is also being launched in Bali this month with the official opening of Sofitel Seminyak Bali following a striking refurbishment of the former Royal Seminyak hotel.

All of the hotel’s superior rooms have been renovated, while each of the hotel’s 60 deluxe rooms were stylishly redesigned and upgraded, blending contemporary interior design with Balinese influences, adding new furniture, a Balinese-style day bed and expanded balcony area. Sofitel Seminyak Bali also features luxurious 16 Spa Villas, each with a secluded private pool or Jacuzzi and personalised 24-hour butler service. These along with 11 family suites are scheduled for renovation during the second phase in 2005.

Located on Seminyak beach, the attractive low-rise Sofitel offers 137 rooms, suites and villas facing the beach or gardens. Balinese stone carvings and exquisite local art and handicrafts accentuate over 4.5 hectares of lush tropical gardens. Two pools, one near the beach and another Lagoon Pool tucked into the garden area, invite guests to relax and unwind. The hotel’s Namaya Spa offers guests the combination of traditional Indonesia massage therapy together with the latest western spa and wellness treatments.

The hotel has three quality restaurants – the outside dining Anala Restaurant, the air-conditioned Pisches Tempanyaki Restaurant and a new beachside Mediterranean restaurant, offering panoramic views and romantic dinning in the evening.

The hotel is well positioned for executive meetings, incentives and corporate retreats, with a main ballroom catering to up to 200 participants and two smaller break out rooms.

Sofitel Seminyak Bali is offering a special rate of US$90++ including breakfast (valid till 31 March, 2005 – except from 26 December 2004 to 6 January 2005), single/double occupancy, per night in a Superior Room excluding service charge and tax.

Accor is also to introduce its leading economy hotel brand, Ibis, into the island of Bali in early 2005 with the opening of Ibis Legian Bali.

The Ibis Legian Bali, Accor’s first Ibis in an Asian resort destination, enjoys a prime location between the popular Kuta and Seminyak shopping and entertainment areas and is only a short five-minute walk to the beach. The existing hotel is currently undergoing a multi- million renovation that includes 33 additional rooms, a full upgrade of all existing rooms, a new exterior design with Balinese influences and a new pool area.

Opening rates at the Ibis Legian Bali will be from US$$25++ per night, offering outstanding value for a recently renovated hotel under international management.
