Virgin Blue to launch direct daily flights between Newcastle and the Gold Coast

Travel News Asia 29 September 2004

Virgin Blue is to begin direct flights between Newcastle and the Gold Coast from November 24, 2004.

Spokesperson Amanda Bolger said, “The people of Newcastle have made it very clear this is a service they want and after re-jigging our network schedule, we have freed up an aircraft to commit to this new route.”

She continued, “We’ve had tremendous support from this region since we introduced our 737 jet service and we are keen to expand the number of routes we offer from Newcastle in line with ongoing demand.”

A special launch fare offer of A$49 one-way on the net is on sale from now until 3 October 2004, for travel between 24 November and 16 December 2004.

The flight will depart Newcastle mid morning arriving on the Gold Coast in time to hit Surfers Paradise for lunch and a swim or shop. The return flight leaves the Gold Coast at lunchtime, landing back in Newcastle at 1.15pm.
