HPL Hotels & Resorts to manage hotel in Maldives

HPL Hotels & Resorts, a Singapore-based hospitality management company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore main-board listed Hotel Properties Limited (HPL), has signed a management contract with the Rihiveli Beach Resort (Rihiveli) in Maldives.

First opened in 1983, this beachfront resort is just four metres from the pristine beach and the magnificent Indian Ocean. Rihiveli Beach Resort offers 48 individual bungalows, tucked amongst flora and fauna, each with its own garden and furnished with the island’s own wood, bring guests a total tranquil holiday experience.

Located 47 km from the Male airport and an hour away by speedboat, Rihiveli is surrounded by a crystal-clear turquoise lagoon. Within the lagoon are two virgin islands of Sunrise and the Birds, both about 400-metre radius and easily accessible on foot or by canoe.

Excursions and most sports activities such as an half day tour to other resorts, half day visit to fishermen’s island, full day Maldivian Island tour, snorkelling, water skiing, windsurfing, catamaran excursion, amongst others, are free of charge at the resort.

Thomas Blachere, a French national, has been General Manager of Rihiveli for the past three years. Prior to joining the resort, Thomas was running his own dive centre in Maldives for 10 years. Having visited the island in 1991, he fell in love with the country and decided to set up business there and is now a resident of  the Maldives. Room rates at Rihiveli start from USD280.
