Travel News Asia 28 January 2004

Singapore-based travel agency, NTUC Income Travel is the latest travel agency to adopt Abacus International's operating system. NTUC Income Travel will now be able to access Abacus'  GDS technology in facilitating its customers' travel bookings.

The implementation of travel agency booking solutions from Abacus such as Abacus Whiz, a personal computer-based system, will provide NTUC Income Travel with easy access to the Abacus Central Reservations System (CRS).

"Signing up with Abacus was a business decision for us. With Abacus, we are confident that we can maximise the productivity of our staff," said Mr Chew Beng Kee, general manager of NTUC Income Travel.

"Our mission is to provide all travel agencies in the Asia Pacific region with the most convenient and efficient travel booking solutions that will help them streamline their operations. Our systems enable travel agencies to make the best use of their skills and help them reach out to customers in the best way possible. We have been receiving a lot of positive response from our existing customers and we are confident of adding more agents to the Abacus network in the coming year," said Mr Kenneth Low, head of regional operations for South East Asia and South Pacific, Abacus International.

In addition to NTUC Income Travel, Abacus also successfully signed up Creative Tours recently.

"Every one of our employees stands to benefit from this new system, especially Abacus FareX, which helps us cut down on agency debit memos (ADMs). The Abacus System also improves our productivity and potential customer reach," said Mr. Kiyoshi Mori, Creative Tours' managing director.
