Guaranteed hotel commissions for agents using new Galileo HotelClub online booking site

Travel News Asia 28 October 2004

Galileo International is launching a new, no-cost online hotel booking site, Galileo HotelClub. Aimed initially at Galileo agents in Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, Australia and New Zealand, it will provide access to rates for over 9,500 hotels in 47 countries at discounted prices.

While various online hotel booking sites exist, aimed predominately at consumers, Galileo HotelClub is targeted specifically at the travel agent community. Many agents are reluctant to book hotels online for their customers because there is no control over commission rates and there can be delays in receiving commissions.

Mark Rizzuto, managing director of Galileo Asia, says “HotelClub is the outright winner in the online hotel booking world. We are delighted to offer our customers the benefits of this superior content integrated into the efficiency of Asia’s fastest growing GDS.”

A key feature of the new site will be the ability for travel agents to have full control over the revenue they earn by enabling them to set the commission rate themselves, while ensuring they receive payment for all hotel bookings in a timely manner. This will allow our customers to generate additional revenue on their hotel bookings whilst remaining competitive, as well as removing the burden of chasing each hotel for payment. Rizzuto explains, “In the ever competitive travel industry, this is an exceptional feature of Galileo HotelClub. No other system allows agents the flexibility of setting commissions on an overall or case by case basis. And importantly it allows the hotel booking to be pulled into one consolidated itinerary, which makes management of the booking much easier.”
