Koh Samui unaffected by Tsunami

Travel News Asia 26 December 2004

While the Western Coast of Thailand has been severely affected by the Tsunami, travelling several  hundred kilometres an hour,  which has devastated many parts of Asia, many holiday destinations in Thailand remain unaffected.

Koh Samui, Pattaya and other such destinations may well have felt slight vibrations but no Tsunami's have been reported.

Mr Thomas Andereggen, Director of Operations at the Buriraya Resort & Spa in Koh Samui commented, "Koh Samui is located on Thailand's east cost and was slightly shaken by the quake, but no damage was reported and no tidal wave has erupted. On Koh Samui everything is as usual and no inconvenience has occurred. Business is as usual on Samui for the peak season."

"We feel very sorry for all our hotelier colleagues on Thailand's west coast, whom are facing the most difficult task at the present time." Mr. Andereggen added.
