Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali to open 1 November after Multi-Million Dollar Renovation

Travel News Asia 26 October 2004

The Mercure Resort Sanur, Bali is to open 1 November 2004, after an impressive multi-million dollar renovation.

The hotel offers 184 fully renovated superior and deluxe rooms, in addition to five family rooms, each with private terrace or balcony. Bathrooms are completely redesigned with modern new furnishings to complement attractive Balinese-influenced design.

Mercure Resort Sanur’s local charm is enhanced by authentic fresh Balinese grass roofs on all cottages and structures around the grounds. The resort offers two swimming pools, one of them facing the ocean, as well as a children’s pool.

A new interior design brightens a completely renovated lobby area, and the adjacent Departure Lounge adds an innovative checkout lounge catering to guests with several hours free before leaving Bali. Shower facilities are available from 12 noon to 01:00 am for those wanting a last ocean swim or to freshen up before departure, with drinks and light snacks available.

Expanded and modern meeting facilities make Mercure Resort Sanur an ideal choice for incentive groups and corporate retreats. The Pandu Ballroom is now completely soundproofed and updated with the latest audiovisual equipment, comfortably accommodating up to 500 people. It is also divisible into two smaller rooms with new dedicated entrance. Two additional breakout rooms looking out onto the resort’s lush tropical gardens are also available for the first time.

WiFi access is available in all meeting rooms and key public areas, and 17 guest rooms offer two phone lines including data ports for down loading email and logging onto the Internet.

The all-new Pandawa Restaurant features Balinese, Indonesian, western and Asian cuisine on its diverse a la carte menu, while laying out lavish themed buffet dinners complemented with entertaining shows each evening. The Sahadewa Bar also offers an excellent opportunity to relax with a refreshing drink before or after meals.

Opening in January 2005, the Arjuna Spa and Fitness Centre will entice guests to stay fit on holiday, while adding local flavour with open-air massage huts offering traditional Balinese massage and wellness treatments.

Accor Director of Operations - Indonesia, Gerard Guillouet, said the opening of Mercure Sanur Resort - Bali continues an impressive year for both Mercure brand expansion in Indonesia and the island’s ongoing tourism recovery.

“This is a very important year for Accor’s Mercure brand after the openings of Grand Mercure Phoenix in Yogyakarta and the Mercure Convention Center in Jakarta. Mercure Resort Sanur adds an important beach component to the network in Indonesia that appeals to our core European clientele.

“They are comfortable with the brand and its reputation for excellent cuisine, great facilities and fantastic value for money.

“Bali’s tourism recovery over the last two years continues to get stronger with international arrivals up a massive 56% of the first eight months of 2004 compared to the same period last year.”

Located just 25 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, the resort is tucked into a serene and peaceful corner of Sanur. Small Sasak-style cottages dot the exotic five-hectare tropical gardens offering direct access to a stunning white-sand beach with spectacular ocean views. Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali is conveniently located close to Ubud’s cultural and art centre, Kuta’s nightlight, Bangli and its rice fields and other popular attractions around the resort island.

To celebrate the opening Mercure Resort Sanur - Bali is offering a rate of US$47++ a night with breakfast from now until 31 March, 2005 (except from 26 December 2004 to 6 January 2005).
