HKTB appoints new General Manager for Tourism Marketing

Travel News Asia 2 April 2004

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) announced today that Aliana Ho, formerly the Director for Eastern United States, Canada and South America, has succeeded Ellen Kwan as the General Manager for Tourism Marketing since 1 April. Ms Kwan proceeded on retirement on the same day.

In her new role, Ms Ho will focus on establishing global trade relationship strategies; maintaining a strong trade partner network; developing high-yield business; and monitoring the implementation of trade marketing programmes.

Ms Ho first joined the HKTB in 1978. She left in 1983 and rejoined in 1994. During her career with the HKTB, she has held a number of management positions at the Hong Kong, US and Canada offices.

As the Director for Eastern United States, Canada and South America, Ms Ho has successfully established networks and partnership with the trade, media, government and relevant organisations and helped extend the reach of the HKTB to more potential visitors through cost-effective integrated marketing campaigns with the trade and other partners.

HKTB Executive Director Clara Chong expressed full confidence in Ms Ho's appointment. "We are confident that Aliana will rise to the challenge with her sound knowledge of the dynamics of the tourism industry and experience in trade relationship management," she said.

Ms Chong also thanked Ms Kwan for her long and invaluable contribution to the HKTB and Hong Kong's tourism industry. Ms Kwan spent more than 23 years with the HKTB (formerly the Hong Kong Tourist Association), which she joined in 1980, taking on many important roles and responsibilities at both the Hong Kong and overseas offices. She became the General Manager of the Association's Hong Kong Convention & Incentive Travel Bureau in 1994 and was appointed to head the Tourism Marketing Division in 1995.
