Emirates introduces Safety Cards for Visually Impaired passengers

Travel News Asia 24 August 2004

Emirates has installed Braille and extra-large font Safety Cards on all of its flights.

The information contained in the Dubai-based international airline's new Safety Cards - the same as in their regular versions - is provided in formats that make them easy to read and understand by blind and visually impaired passengers.

Terry Daly, Emirates' Senior Vice President Service Delivery said: "All of our cabin crew undergo specific training to enable them to assist passengers challenged by any impairment. The new Safety Cards will offer an extra assurance to the visually impaired that at Emirates their well-being is as important as that of any other passenger."

He added: "We know the value that our customers place on a travelling experience that makes them feel they are in good hands. The new Safety Cards is another action that speaks for us and demonstrates that Emirates does deliver on its customer service promise."

The Braille Safety Cards will be kept in the aircraft's library and provided to passengers upon request. They contain detailed instructions on seatbelt operation, location of emergency exits and life jackets and other essential safety information.
