InterContinental Hotels Group makes managing commissions easier with new website

Travel News Asia 23 November 2004

InterContinental Hotels Group has furthered its commitment to agents with the introduction of www.ihgagent.com, a dedicated website that empowers travel professionals to make bookings, check commissions and access assistance through local help desks.

Through the site, agents can obtain Global Distribution System (GDS) format cards in local languages, make bookings and access Electronic Commission Services (ECS), the Group’s global system for tracking and payment of agent commissions. In addition to being able to access information on the Group’s commission policy and payment schedule, users will soon be able to make industry discount reservations for personal travel as well.

Users can also apply for a login to the site’s secure area to access the past 18 months’ worth of commission payment information. Detailed reconciliation reports are available on the secure site in sortable, downloadable formats, incorporating information on cancellations, no-shows and non-commissionable rates.

“This site offers an easy, interactive and real-time resource for agents to book accommodation and manage their commission systems. The introduction of GDS and ECS help desk services adds an additional layer of support and reinforces our commitment to travel agents and the timely delivery of commission payments,” said InterContinental Hotels Group Regional Director of Sales and Marketing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Jolyon Bulley.

“The ECS is an integral element of InterContinental Hotels Group’s Travel Agent Commission Policy, which guarantees commission payments by the 15th business day of the month following client departures on all GDS, Central Reservation Office and Internet bookings. These new initiatives will ensure that agents always have a ready point of contact to learn about our commission payment system and have any queries answered,” Mr Bulley added.
